dinner (well, part of)

Don't worry, I also made a tofu, mushroom, leek and brocoli scramble. Yum.

Oven roasted potato wedges
(adapted from the Rebar cookbook)

4 potatoes
1 tbsp olive oil
a good pinch of salt
1/2 tsp tumeric

+ Preheat oven to 400F.
+ Cut potatoes in half lengthwise and then into approximately 10 wedges per potato
+ Put wedges, olive oil, salt and tumeric in a medium bowl and toss to coat evenly.
+ Place wedges skin side down on a baking tray. Lining them up on their backs ensures 3 crispy sides and speedier cooking.
+ Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and crispy. You'll know.
+ Enjoy!

hiatus

I'm very busy again. People who know me in real life will proably roll their eyes as, I guess, I say this alot. The thing is, it's true. I was thinking of going on a bit of blogging hiatus (if you don't include my unofficial one for the last little while) as I felt bad about not posting. Is it still a blog if you don't post? I don't think so.

But then that made me feel sad as I really enjoy the process (even though it's challenging, constantly trying to find something interesting to talk about) so I have decided to post just once a week, with maybe some photo only posts here and there. As well, due to my limited time, I won't be able to respond to comments as reguarly. I appreciate and read every comment so please continue!

See you next week.

better late than never

Ages ago I mentioned listing my goals for the year. Um, yeah. So here it goes, 3+ months later...
+ Reduce the amount of plastic in our lives {(no more tupperware, bags for bulk foods or items wrapped in plastic) So far, so good. I have started making cloth bags to replace bags used for bulk foods and produce. Next up, getting a tiffin for Aren. I was the lucky recipent of one for Christmas (thanks Ron!)}
+ Take a real holiday with Aren
+ Finish our film (almost there!)
+ Learn how to draft patterns properly
+ Sew more of our clothes
+ Join a community garden so we can have our own fresh vegetables
+ Learn how to knit
+ Exercise more (on my list for, oh, the last 15 years)
+ Give only handmade gifts (by me or others)
+ Apply the same sustainable guidelines that is part of my non working life to my work, designing costumes for dance and theatre
+ Improve my correspondence skills
+ Draw everyday
+ Get a better handle on my finances (I like money but sometimes it's hard to manage)
+ Reduce the amount items that we purchase first hand

beautiful use, round 2

I participated in the Beautiful Use swap again. I swapped with Véronique. I love everything she sent. Thanks Véronique!
We use the creamer everyday and I can't wait to use the fabric for something special. Sadly, the plate broke in transit but it's still beautiful. Perhaps a mosiac is in order? To see all the swaps, click here.

I sent her a doll quilt for her daughter, a set of coasters and some furniture for her dollhouse (I forgot to take photos).
