still recovering

Catching up (a doorway in our alley, I love how it's incorporated)...

delurking

This is my very late and unofficial entry to the Tea Party Day. Notice the messy desk? It's the reason I haven't posted in awhile. The two shows I'm designing open in just over a week, deadlines for the short film I'm producing approach steadily and my part time job requires more of my attention. I am going to take a blog break until February so I don't go mental.

In the spirit of National Delurking Week, I'll leave you with this link to the shows I'm working on. I don't know why I have kept my real identity a secret (dramatic, eh?). Somehow I thought it would be better to separate my work and real life from this space but really, my work is my life. And all I have to talk about and share here, comes from both my work and real life. Silly me, there is no separation.

For the record, A is really Aren.

what i have been up to...

...handmade holiday gifts.
A tea cozy made from repurposed linen and quilted cotton with freezer paper stencil detailing for A's mom's bee house teapot.

Reclaimed wool scarves for one of A's sisters, my brother (navy and light blue tweed), his girlfriend (grey and grass green)(waiting for the photos).

A hand embroidered, hand painted fabric and suede cuff for A's other sister.

A reclaimed wool quilt for A (with A taking a nap underneath).

to a new year

i don't really make resolutions or have any traditions relating to the new year. it's more often than not a let down. this year felt different. i really felt the transition from one year to the next and was thankful for that experience. even though 2006 was a good year for me, it was a hard year and was feeling a little tattered and weary around the edges by the end. i am looking forward to a fresh start, a clean slate. we started by cleaning, finishing/starting things we have been putting off, tidying, organizing, sorting, recylcing/giving away things that no longer makes us happy or suit our lives to make room things that do...everything is it's place and a place for everything. ahhhh, it feels good.

one of those things was making a proper cover for my serger. i have been using the horrid plastic one that it come with since i got it. i kept meaning to make a nice fabric one but kept putting it off.

last year i wrote down my goals and i quite liked that. it was nice to look back and get a glimpse into how i was thinking and feeling a year ago. i think i will do the same this year and post it tomorrow.

all the best for the new year!
